Consisting of Ghent's nature reserve the Bourgoyen-Ossemeersen, the Blaarmeersen and part of the Watersportbaan, I baptized this route the Golden Trio. Full of nature and ideal running paths, this 12.5 km route will be on your frequent-running-routes-list.
In my experience, this route is the best combination of some of the most popular running spots in Ghent. If you are looking to expand your running distance and are not getting warm to the idea of running multiple laps around the Watersportbaan, this route might be your ideal solution. You can also park your car all around the Watersportbaan and start running from your parking spot.
The connection from the route around the Watersportbaan to the route in the Bourgoyen-Ossemeersen might be a bit troublesome to find the first time but once you know it, it's super easy. When you reach the tip of the Watersportbaan, you will see a large bridge in front of you. You need to follow the pedestrian/cyclist path under the bridge and immediately go right. After about 50 meters, you will see the entrance to the Bourgoyen-Ossemeersen. There is also a possibility to park your car near this entrance. For more information about the route in the Bourgoyen-Ossemeersen, you can click here. After finishing your round in the beautiful reserve, you can go back to the Watersportbaan and continue to the Blaarmeersen from there. For more information on how to do this, click here.
